The last trip was 'Triple M' - A Massive Milestone Meet-er...
What that means (in non-1990's business bullshit speak), is that we got shed loads done!
There were five bunnies (including myself) working hard - one of which was Bryan who helped massively with the plastering of the two bedroom ceilings. Being young, he was 50% faster than me. I'm sure he sees me as being 50% more lazy. Anyways, my hop up was shinier and much bigger...

Hop ups. A bunny's friend. |
We brought Thistle Multifinish over with us from the UK as French plaster contains 'dark magic' and things I don't quite understand.

Using my 'wide boy' (The tool, not my stomach) |

Ceiling skimmed alongside newly re-pointed bedroom wall |
Gary finished the insulation and framing in the loft and we ran a number of electrical cables.
With this done, plaster boarding could start. Trev kindly helped with the plaster board purchasing.
I bought the (lengthways) half boards which fit perfectly in his trailer. Logistically, this is huge! Thanks Trev.

Plaster boarding - Note the light socket contraption |
The biggest surprise of the trip was seeing the new windows. These were fitted by Dave and make a massive difference to the back of the house. I know they're modern and do look a little out of place, but personally I don't care. The house is already warmer.

The rear at night. As you get older, rears do look better at night. |

The bathroom window. Did I forget to ask for some frosting? |
A big part of life in France is being accepted into the community. A neighbor of mine was passing as I was bagging up junk in the garden. In my best French (Which is on par with my best break dancing), I not only asked how she was, but also 'introduced' my new windows.
I know she was impressed, as half an hour later she invited us all around to hers for coffee.
With her young son helping to translate, we had a lovely break from the dust and noise.
Gary (Who lives in France full-time) did state that being 'invited in' was a good sign. I was quite chuffed to be honest.
Unfortunately, a few of the old window shutters fell to pieces, but Dave was able to save three. These will be revived (somehow) and used as one of those pretentious room screens.

Three screens - Not of the cinema variety though |
Whilst being away from the house, I think we may have been burgled - Not by the human type, but by something that needs to keep warm. In nutshell, I didn't leave the insulation in this state...
|
Insulation in abomination - Note the rips and tears |
As already mentioned, lots got done... And for the first time, we've put more things in than taken away.
The fun starts again in March 2018.... Happy New Year everyone.
